Krakow is a city located in southern Poland. The city is the capital of the Province of Malopolskie and is one of the oldest and largest cities in Poland. It is believed the city of Krakow has been there since 20 000 BC and was once the capital of Poland in 1038 and was destroyed in the attack by the Tartars of the Russian North and Mongolian in the 13th century. To save the city of Krakow, they build a building fort around the city including the Wawel Castle on the hill which still stands today.
The monument is a major icon in Krakow Old City is the Florian Gate and Barbakan. Barbakan is a round building is a fortress located in front of the Florian Gate. In 1978, Old Town and Wawel Castle has been recognized as a Unesco World Heritage Site. From Old Town Square, we can walk through the gardens and old buildings leads to Wawel Castle on a hilltop overlooking the Vistula River. The view from there is very pretty and could see most of the city of Krakow.
