Valencia is the capital of the Old Kingdom of Valencia province, as well as the 3rd most populous city in Spain located on the Mediterranean Sea. The famous Spanish dish ‘Paella’ is originated from Valencia. Summer in Valencia is always very hot and humid, the best timing to visit Valencia is around spring, where weather is nice and cafes and restaurants start to open their terraces again.
Getting There
Valencia is located approximately 4 hours to the south of Barcelona and 3 hours to the east of Madrid. Many trains from these 2 cities go to Valencia’s main train station, Estacion del Norte, which is located in the city center. If arriving with plane, you can use the Valencia airport, which is around 30 minutes drive away from the city center. Buses and metro connects the airport with the city center. You can also take ferry ride from Ibiza, Palma de Mallorca and Mahon to get to Valencia.

Falles Festival
The Falles Festival takes place every year in March in Velencia for 5 days. ‘Falles’ actually refers to the celebration and the monuments created in priase of Saint Joseph. It is a big event in Valencia, where restaurants will be splling out on streets, and fireworks and light everywhere.
The Llotja de la Seda
This UNESCO World Heritage Site building is the location for ancient local silk trading. This building is a late Valencian Gothic style civil building built during 1482 to 1548.
The Barrio del Carmen
The Barrio del Carmen is a small area neighboring the old center. It is an ideal place to find out the local historic and artistic aspect of the city which is currently mixing with trendy shops and cafes with terraces.
Take a walk to Plaza del Carmen where Convent of Carmen, fountains and orange trees decorate the plaza. You can get to the area easily from Calle Serranos or crossing the Serranos Bridge (Puente de Serranos) and reach ‘el Carme’. The medieval tower – Torres de Quart, is located also in this area.
